On Saturday 19th October 2013 we held our second charity trivia night, this time to coincide with a visit from some of the team from The School of St Jude, Tanzania.  Seventeen tables of eight per team filled the function room of the Cheltenham-Moorabbin RSL.

The night was opened with an introduction to The School of St Jude by Kim Saville, one of the directors of the board; followed by an inspirational presentation by Felix Mollel who shared his story of growing up as a boy in a Maasai tribe, the challenges of finding work and his role as Visitor Coordinator at St Jude’s.  Led by trivia master, our friend Dragan Ilic, our supporters enjoyed eight rounds of trivia incorporating entertainment, sport, general knowledge, food and a memory test about information on the beneficiary for the night – The School of St Jude.  Half-time hot snacks were served and a door prize and six raffle prizes were won.

Some of the prizes were generously donated by Westwell electronics, The Pancake Parlour and our friend Andrew.

Overall the night raised $1974!!

The funds went towards the St Jude’s welfare program which assists a select few students who come from extremely impoverished backgrounds or have other circumstances which require a bit of extra assistance. These students are supplied with basic necessities every term and the welfare team keeps a close eye on each student  to ensure they have every opportunity to be successful at school.
