Velugu Special School, Madanapalle, India

Velugu is a non-government and not-for-profit organisation established in 1997 to provide food, clothing, healthcare, education, rehabilitation and residential accommodation for both children and aged women who are vunerable and/or with a disability across the Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Velugu respond to their essential needs, improving their living conditions, protecting them from violence and abuse and supporting them in their efforts to become self-reliant – ultimately promoting respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights.

Velugu believe that permanent change is only possible when the root causes that continue to keep people exploited and vulnerable are overcome.

In August 2013, we contributed $500 to an effort led by our friend Asvini who visited Velugu Special School while completing her PhD studies in a remote village in Andhra Pradesh.  Asvini purchased 700kg of rice and one computer for the special school kids.

“We are very much thankful to your kind and valued support.  We acknowledge with thanks your donation…We are overwhelmed by your kind and valuable services to our special children. We always remain thankful & very much appreciate your services.”
